Historical Entertainment stands for a certain standard of quality to our clients. In order to protect the value of our "brand", membership in Historical Entertainment / Historical Extras is by application or invitation only.

Who can benefit from joining?

  • Extras / actors / background artists
  • Specialist production staff
  • Owners of historical wardrobe items and props available for film use
  • Owners of historical sites available as film locations

What is the cost of membership?

  • Basic annual membership costs $35 a year. That enables you to create a full prifile and upload 5 photos.
  • There is a one-time $15 additional charge for new members to cover administrative efforts in creating a profile. We will contact you and give you detailed advice on how best to fill out the profile.
  • Premium membership is available for an additional $15

Why do I need to submit a photo?

We cannot process your membership application without a photograph, as it's virtually impossible to cast you unless we have a record of what you look like. If you are applying online but are having trouble uploading your photographs, you may email them to the office.. Information on how to do this will be provided after you apply online. If you do not have access to a scanner or digital camera, you may mail your photographs to the H.E. office at 25450 Highfield Road, Cascade, MD 21719.

Membership Director: William L. Moss, Jr. Bill is a retired Naval Officer from Mobile, Alabama who now resides in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he completed his service in 1994 and now acts as our representative West of the Appalachian Mountains.

A veteran of over 35 years as a Civil War Reenactor and Living Historian in the Infantry, Artillery and Cavalry, “Bushrod” brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization. He has been a supporter of Historical Entertainment since its inception on the set of “Gods & Generals”, where he met CEO and founder Russ Richards. Possessing superlative oral and written communications skills, he has a keen awareness of the techniques required to ensure effective, meaningful and historically correct presentations for the general public. Highly skilled in projecting extremely accurate impressions of 19th century demeanor and military decorum and obsessed with a desire for historical accuracy in every detail, on set he may be found assisting in wardrobe, props, makeup, set dressing-wherever his talents may be of use. His duties on HE projects have included Project Manager, Historical Advisor, Technical Consultant, Battle Choreographer, Reenactor Coordinator, National Park Service Liaison, Logistics, and even Craft Services!
